Dry, windy and outside the hurricane belt
Wide calm beaches on one coast, cactus and desert inland, and weather you can plan around.
Aruba sits outside the hurricane belt, which is the practical reason it stays busy when other islands are riding out a storm. The weather is relentlessly dry and the trade winds blow constantly, so the heat rarely feels heavy.
The west coast holds the beaches people come for: Eagle Beach and Palm Beach, both wide, calm and lined with hotels. Inland is desert, cactus and the wind-bent divi-divi trees that lean permanently southwest.
